The PPG SIGMACOVER 380 product is a universal anticorrosive epoxy primer/coating specifically designed to meet yard demands for a PSPC-approved product to protect key areas such as water ballast tanks.

It has outstanding anticorrosive properties, can be overcoated by a wide range of topcoats and is suitable for use on many vessel areas.

As an established coating, shipyard experience and vessel surveys have confirmed that our PPG SIGMACOVER 380 coating leads competitor products in terms of ease of use and overcoating, extended pot life, durability and impact resistance. In addition, the coating is resistant to the effects of properly controlled cathodic protection.

Ideal protection for water ballast tanks

The system was originally developed for use in the demanding environment of water ballast tanks where the humid conditions promote and accelerate corrosion. Water ballast tanks constitute the single largest surface area on the vessel. Therefore, it is imperative that the applied coating systems satisfy the requirements of the shipyard and also give the performance in service that ship owners demand.

Our PPG SIGMACOVER 380 product is extremely adaptable and suitable for use on various surfaces, including properly prepared shop primers or on suitably prepared bare steel. Even in the demanding environment of new shipbuilding locations, it is a tried and trusted solution.

To further increase the value of the coating for customers, a low-temperature version is also available to enable application throughout the year.

Independent approval

The PPG SIGMACOVER 380 product has IMO PSPC-type approvals with all major class societies, such as ABS, BV, CCS, CLASS NK, DNV, Germanischer Lloyd, Lloyd's Register, and RINA.
