PPG extends Colorful Communities program to China
PPG Industries recently held its first Colorful Communities activity in China at the Tianjin TEDA Art Center. As part of the company’s new global community-engagement initiative, nearly 70 volunteers from PPG’s Tianjin plant helped decorate interior walls and paint bright murals in the soon-to-open Color Classroom of the art center. PPG also donated the MASTER’S MARK™ paint to the center before the activity.

PPG completes $3.8 million expansion of Valladolid, Spain, coatings plant
PPG Industries today announced the completion of a $3.8 million expansion at its coatings manufacturing facility in Laguna de Duero, Valladolid, Spain. The investment provides new, state-of-the-art, mixing and blending equipment at the facility that will support an 80 percent increase in annual production capacity of coatings for automotive parts and industrial applications.

PPG debuts PPG ONE Series of single-component coatings
PPG Industries’ protective and marine coatings (PMC) business has introduced the PPG ONE Series, a collection of three individual coatings products developed to provide industrial-level protection in an easy-to-use, one-component package.

PPG to acquire remaining interest in Chemfil Canada joint venture
PPG Industries announced today that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire the remaining interest in Chemfil Canada Limited, a joint venture of PPG and Madinal Enterprises. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter, subject to customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.

PPG foundation donates $120,000 to Penn State for undergraduate research
The PPG Industries Foundation has donated $120,000 to the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) for its Materials Research Institute (MRI) Student Assistantship Program and additional programming. This marks the third year the PPG foundation has supported Penn State undergraduate students participating in the 10-week summer program, this year funding eight fellowships, as well as one graduate student for a full year’s research along with additional student opportunities.

PPG foundation donates $103,000 to University of Pittsburgh
The PPG Industries Foundation has donated $103,000 to the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) for programs in its engineering school and chemistry department. The funding supports PPG Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows in the Swanson School of Engineering, two PPG Industries Foundation Graduate Fellows in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the annual undergraduate chemistry laboratory poster session.

PPG foundation supports Woodstock High School WiSE club outreach efforts
Christine Batten, account development manager in the company-owned stores group of PPG Architectural Coatings, U.S. and Canada, visited Woodstock High School to present a $1,000 PPG Industries Foundation check to science faculty members Kelly Burke and Karen Zayance, along with charter members of the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) club they sponsor.

PPG foundation awards nearly $325,000 through National Merit Scholarship Program
The PPG Industries Foundation announced today that it is sponsoring nearly $325,000 in undergraduate college scholarships for U.S. students through National Merit Scholarship Corp. in 2015, including 53 new four-year scholarships.

PPG earns NSF certification for four products, two coating systems for water tanks
PPG Industries’ protective and marine coatings (PMC) business announced that four individual coatings and primers and two combined coating-and-primer systems have been certified by NSF International for water-tank applications.

McGarry elected PPG president and CEO
PPG Industries today announced Michael H. McGarry will become President and CEO, effective Sept.1, 2015. McGarry will join the company’s Board of Directors immediately.
